Miami student lands internship of a lifetime with STA Travel

While university students across the country are making plans for summer, junior Rachel Rudwall is preparing for the journey of a lifetime.

As STA Travel's world traveler intern, Rudwall will tour the globe for two months, sharing her experience in a blog, travel journal, video and photo diary and interviews with people she meets along the way.

Rudwall, of Dayton, was selected from more than 200 applicants nationwide. "I applied to be the world traveler intern because I live to explore and I adore sharing my experiences with others," said Rudwall, an international studies and Spanish major. "Travel is a way for us to find out more about ourselves and our place in the world, and through my writing and videos I hope to inspire others to travel abroad."

The adventure includes:

• China for 14 days where she will work in a Chinese conservation center that aims to preserve some of the world's most endangered species;

• Europe for 24 days where she will visit 12 different countries;

• Australia for 14 days where she will explore the east coast between Sydney and Cairns; and

• Thailand for six days where she will trek from Chang Mai to Bangkok.

Rudwall previously spent semesters abroad in Spain and Scotland.
