e-Learning Advisory Council work is under way

10/23/2012

Miami University's e-Learning Advisory Council (eLAC) was formed in late spring 2012 to play an advisory role in formulating and recommending e-learning policies, procedures and initiatives at Miami.

Co-chaired by Carine Feyten, dean of the School of Education, Health and Society, and Cheryl Young, director of lifelong learning, the advisory council includes representation from all academic divisions, regional campuses, IT services, university libraries, AIMS, CELTUA and the university registrar.

With the endorsement from the Council of Academic Deans in April, the eLAC began work under the charge to make recommendations in the following areas:

  • Vision and purpose for e-learning at Miami University.
  • Curriculum and instruction
  • Faculty support and development
  • Student and academic services
  • Sustainability and growth
  • Evaluation and assessment
  • Compliance with regulatory dimensions

The eLAC is meeting regularly and engaging in discussions with university online learning experts across the U.S., as well as other resources. In the spring of 2013, the council will begin engaging the broad campus community in this discussion.
