Health care clinic opens on campus for employees

10/18/2012

Miami University faculty and staff can now receive free health care on campus at the new Miami Convenient Care Clinic. Open to employees and their families covered under the Miami University healthcare plan, the clinic can be reached through the north entrance of the student health center, 421 S. Campus Avenue.

A certified nurse practitioner and a medical assistant employed by McCullough Hyde Memorial Hospital will provide high quality care for faculty, staff and their covered dependents who can be appropriately treated at the clinic.

The clinic opens Monday, Oct. 22, and will operate 11 a.m.–7 p.m. Monday through Friday. The hours are intended to accommodate two staff shifts and allow employees to bring their children in after work.

“We are pleased to have partnered with McCullough-Hyde Memorial Hospital in providing this pilot opportunity,” said Carol Hauser, senior director of human resources. "It will bring more opportunities to our employees and families in their quest to maintain a healthy life."

For treatment, qualifying employees and their family members will be required to show a photo ID and their Humana card. If Convenient Care Clinic staff refer them to the emergency room or for labs, x-rays, etc. the normal health plan terms will be in effect.

This is not a replacement for a primary care physician. The clinic is intended to treat things like general illness, flu, sinus infections, ear aches, pink eye, mild nausea or vomiting, insect bites, sore throats, rashes, minor cuts and abrasions.

Patients can call for appointments, 529-2607, or walk-in.
