Under the Streetlamp, the "fearless foursome of vocalists on a mission to breathe new life into the American Radio Songbook," will perform at 7:30 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 21, in Hall Auditorium, part of the Miami University Performing Arts Series. Formed in Chicago in 2010, the quartet is composed of recent leading cast members of the Tony Award-winning hit “Jersey Boys,” including Miami alumnus Michael Ingersoll, ’01, and Michael Cunio, Christopher Kale Jones and Shonn Wiley. One of the highest rated shows on PBS Their live show taped at the Star Theatre in Indiana has now aired more than 1,500 times on PBS stations across the country and was one of the highest rated shows on PBS in the last 12 months. While touring locally in the Chicago area, Under the Streetlamp quickly earned a fan base and attracted the attention of manager Charlie Blum. “I was instantly struck by the boys' clearly authentic love for this music, their amazing showmanship and rapport with one another and nightly standing ovations throughout the show. It’s one big party for audiences of all ages,” commented Blum, who also runs the Star Theatre in Chicagoland. Favorite Doo-Wop, Motown, and old time Rock 'n' Roll hits from The Drifters, The Beach Boys, The Beatles, The Four Seasons, and more “The group is not an extension of ‘Jersey Boys,’ rather, Streetlamp is all about Motown-meets-pop-meets-soul-meets American Top 40 radio of the ’50’s and’60’s, delivered in four-part harmony,” described a reviewer from the Chicago Sun-Times. Appearing with Under the Streetlamp at Hall Auditorium will be members of four of Miami’s student a capella groups. Under the Streetlamp is presented by the Miami University Performing Arts Series with funding from the Earl Reeder Visiting Artists Fund, and media partners 88.5 WMUB, 90.9 WGUC and 91.7 WVXU. Tickets, $35 adults; $34 seniors; and $17 students and youth, are available at the box office at Shriver Center; 529-3200 or online. |
