Digital Expo 2012 showcases creative use of technology in teaching

Miami University's annual technology conference Digital Expo 2012 runs Thursday, Sept. 27, through Saturday, Sept. 29. The expo showcases audio essays, digital design, digital archiving and interactive media projects from Miami faculty and students, as well as from area school classroom teachers.

Presenters share their technologies and teaching strategies through workshops, presentations, creative performances and digital displays.

Those interested in participating in or presenting at the expo must register online.

The event kicks off at 5 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 27, in 322 McGuffey. Carine Feyten, dean of the School of Education, Health and Society will give opening remarks.

The evening’s keynote speaker is Cynthia Selfe, who will speak on “Transanational Literate Lives” and her recent research as the Humanities Distinguished Professor in the department of English at the Ohio State University.

The event continues 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Friday, Sept. 28, in 322 McGuffey and 9 a.m.-noon Saturday, Sept. 29, at Miami’s Voice of America Learning Center.

The expo is co-sponsored by the School of Education, Health and Society, departments of teacher education, English, interactive media studies, the Miami University Humanities Center and the Howe Center for Writing Excellence.
