In addition to hosting his tabloid talk show “The Jerry Springer Show,” Springer has been the mayor of Cincinnati, political pundit, lawyer, award-winning newscaster for WLWT in Cincinnati, country recording artist, movie star, Broadway actor and political activist. The 2012-2013 series also includes: Becki Donatelli and Sam Graham-Felson, “# Voting: Social Media and the 2012 Election,” at 8 p.m. Monday, Oct. 15, in Hall Auditorium. Donatelli was the chief Internet consultant to John McCain’s two presidential races. Graham-Felson was the chief blogger on Barack Obama’s 2008 presidential campaign. Rick Steves, “Europe Through the Back Door,”at 8 p.m. Monday, Nov. 12, in Hall Auditorium. Steves has spent 120 days a year in Europe since 1973; today he employs 80 people at his Europe Through the Back Door headquarters where he produces the most popular travel series in America on public television. Krista Tippett, “On Being: Spirituality in Modern Times,” at 8 p.m. Monday, Jan. 28, in Hall Auditorium. Tippett is author of Einstein’s God: Conversations About Science and the Human Spirit (2010) and Speaking of Faith (2007). Neil deGrasse Tyson, “Science As A Way of Knowing,” at 8 p.m. Monday, April 8, in the Shriver Center multipurpose rooms. Tyson, one of the world’s most popular lecturers on astronomy, is director of the Hayden Planetarium of the American Museum of Natural History. He hosted the “NOVA ScienceNow” series from 2006 to 2011 and also hosts his own podcast, “StarTalk.” |
