Miami's own international music festival: Free concerts July 7-11 hosted by International Double Reed Society conference

While it is not quite the on same scale as the World Choir Games taking place concurrently in Cincinnati, the 41st annual conference of the International Double Reed Society, hosted at Miami, will bring musicians from more than 26 countries for five free concerts July 7-11 at Hall Auditorium.

Orchestra and chamber music performances will be held each day of the conference, featuring solo musicians and principal oboe and bassoon players from major orchestras around the world. Among orchestras and ensembles represented are the Berlin Philharmonic, London Philharmonia, Cincinnati Symphony, La Scala Opera Orchestra, Vancouver Symphony and Teatro dell Opera of Rome.

The community is welcome to attend the free concerts held at Hall Auditorium:

What do Oxford, Los Angeles, Tokyo and New York City have in common?

They will all be hosts to an International Double Reed Society Conference:
Oxford 2012; Los Angeles 2013; New York City 2014; and Tokyo, 2015.

With the registrants, there will be over 1,000 people from more than 26 countries and 41 states, say Andrea Ridilla, professor of oboe, and Christin Schillinger, assistant professor of bassoon, who have been planning the conference for two full years.
