Miami University's physical facilities department announces that beginning after normal work hours today (June 22), campus buildings will operate in enhanced energy conservation mode on the weekends. This change is needed in order to help meet the energy conservation requirements of Ohio HB251.
During air conditioning season, weekend indoor temperatures may reach 82 degrees. Normal temperatures will be maintained during regular business hours, but it might take a bit longer to get to desired temperatures in the morning because evening hours are also being optimized to conserve energy.
Given these changes in evening and weekend temperatures, it is especially important to schedule off-hour classes or group events in advance. The scheduling office and PFD’s operations center work to ensure that scheduled needs, including air conditioning, are met.
Please help the university conserve energy by making sure windows are closed, computers are off and lights are out before leaving work areas. To prevent heat build-up, pull shades or blinds if/when windows are exposed to direct sunlight.
