Speed reduction on Patterson Ave. and East High St.

In an effort to improve pedestrian and cyclist safety on US 27, the City of Oxford engineering division performed a speed limit study on Patterson Avenue (beginning at Chestnut St.) and on High St. (from Patterson Ave. to Campus Ave.).

The study indicated that a reduction of the speed limit from 35 MPH to 25 MPH is warranted.

The Ohio Department of Transportation has approved the new speed limit that will go into effect during the week of May 14, 2012.

Signs will be posted indicating the new speed limit, and flags will temporarily alert drivers to the new signs.
