Oversize loads to impact Butler Co. traffic

05/14/2012

The transport of four oversize loads at 5 m.p.h. is expected to impact local traffic the weeks of May 14 and May 21.

UPDATE- The transport of the fourth and final oversize load from Southside Avenue in Sedamsville, Hamilton County, to Yankee Road in Middletown, Butler County is scheduled to begin at 9 a.m. Tuesday, June 5 and last 2-3 days.
-----------
Each load, which consists of a cold box measuring 146 to 175 feet long, 18.5 feet wide and 19.5 feet high, will take two days to transport between the Anderson Ferry on the Ohio River and Middletown, beginning at 9 a.m. and ending at 4:30 p.m. each day, according to the following schedule:

Wednesday, May 16 and Thursday, May 17;
Friday, May 18 and Saturday, May 19;
Monday, May 21 and Tuesday, May 22;
Thursday, May 24 and Friday, May 25.

Top speeds through towns and villages will not exceed 5 mph, so motorists are advised to use alternate routes. Four bucket trucks will travel with each oversize load to ensure minimal impact to traffic while providing the extra support for the low utility lines. In addition to the bucket trucks, each load will be traveling with four Ohio State Highway Patrol escorts along with an ODOT escort and two private escorts.

The route is as follows:

Depart Anderson Ferry to west U.S. 50; north on South Miami Avenue; crossover at Cooper Road; west to U.S. 50 in the eastbound lanes; north on State Route 128 into Butler County; north on U.S. 27 entering from the U.S. 27 southbound off ramp to SR 128; north on U.S. 27; east on Stahlheber Road; north on Morman Road; east on SR 130; north on SR 177; east on SR 73; south on U.S. 127; east on SR 73; north on SR 4, entering SR 4 using the southbound exit ramp to SR 73; at top of ramp, crossover the median into north SR 4 lanes; east on 14th Avenue to Yankee Road and destination.

Again, ODOT asks motorists to plan ahead and use an alternate route to avoid congestion and delays.
