Waterline work begins on Patterson Avenue Monday, May 7, closing the road for the month of May. In addition, a number of temporary closures near the Armstrong Student Center begin May 7.
Access to each building and parking lot along Patterson Avenue will be available for staff parking, vending and deliveries. As the project begins on May 7 at state Route 73, all access will be available from the south on Patterson. As the project moves south in conjunction with the dates listed on the schedule (see PDF below), additional access from the north will be available up to the point of construction.
Temporary sidewalk and road closures near the Armstrong Student Center include (see PFD schedule below):
- Sidewalk closure: May 7- Aug. 15, the sidewalk between Upham Hall and Gaskill Hall will be closed for installation of utilities to the Armstrong Student Center. A temporary emergency egress path from Upham Hall south will be maintained.
- Culler Hall north entry closure: May 7-Aug.15, the north entries to Culler Hall will be closed for installation of the loading dock to the Armstrong Student Center. Please use entries on the east and south sides of the facility. Barrier free access is provided at the south entry.
- Lane restriction at Bishop Circle: May 7-Aug. 15, several parking spaces on the south side of Bishop Circle near Culler Hall will not be available. Please use adjacent parking spaces near Upham and Shideler Halls.
- Presser Hall: May 7, construction preparations will require a change to the normal traffic pattern behind Presser Hall to support sidewalk/tunnel top replacement between the road’s edge and the bridge leading toward Mary Lyon Residence Hall. In support of this construction, the North bound lane (exiting from Hoyt Hall) will be closed and the lane on the opposite side of the island (closest to Presser) will become two way. This is a single lane so please exercise caution and courtesy. Please also note the South bound traffic is requested to yield to the North bound traffic (coming uphill). Construction is expected to be completed and normal access restored by June 22.
