Build a kinetic contraption at the Oxford Kinetics Festival

The third annual Oxford Kinetics Festival will be held noon-3 p.m. Sunday, April 1, at Millett Hall. The festival is a "celebration of creativity in motion," featuring kinetic sculptures, robotics and monster bicycles.

The Scramble — part parade, race and obstacle course — will begin at 1 p.m. April 1.

Participants can build their own kinetic "contraption" at an open workshop 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday, March 31, in the sculpture studio in Hiestand Hall.

Co-organized by Rod Northcutt and Jacob Tonski, assistant professors of art and interactive media studies, the event will feature activities for all ages throughout the afternoon including interactive and kinetic artwork on display, robots and “mad scientist” creations of all shapes and sizes.
