At the March 12, meeting of University Senate, Steven DeLue, chair, Executive Committee of University Senate, reported on the committee’s activities and on the February board of trustees' meeting.
The Executive Committee of University Senate, in consultation with the associate vice president for institutional diversity, shall nominate council members. These nominees shall be identified from a list of candidates composed of:
Nominees must be able to serve at the regularly scheduled meeting time established for the Council on Diversity and Inclusion (CODI), and, for purposes of continuity and stability, be willing to serve for at least one three-year term (Section 6.A.1, Senate Committee Structure). Nominations shall normally be submitted for approval to University Senate no later than the last regularly scheduled Senate meeting in April proceeding the academic year in which the member will serve. 6.C.10.b. The functions of the Council on Diversity and Inclusion (CODI) are to advise the President and the Provost on matters of diversity; to engage in and facilitate long-range planning to: (1) build an intellectual community that recognizes that diverse experiences create a rich educational experience for all students, (2) foster an inclusive campus climate, and (3) foster the development of diversity-related competencies among faculty, staff, and students; to assess and identify trends, progress, and problems pertaining to campus diversity and climate; and to facilitate University-wide dialogue to promote understanding and constructive exchange of views on matters of diversity. The Council shall report regularly to University Senate. SR 12-16 carried by voice vote. SR 12-17 BE IT HEREBY RESOLVED that University Senate adopt revisions to University Senate documents: Enabling Act of University Senate and Faculty Assembly, Bylaws of University Senate, Standing Rules of University Senate (references of the University Secretary and Office of the University Secretary). University Senate Document SR 12-17 carried by voice vote. Twenty-five members of Faculty Assembly can challenge the resolutions by filing a petition with the Office of the University Secretary during the ten class days after publication in the e-Report. |
