Miami gerontology student receives scholarship

Stephanie Weber, a Miami University junior from Cincinnati, was recently awarded a $500 scholarship by the Association for Professionals in Aging. Weber is on a pre-med track with a double major in zoology and gerontology.

The competitive scholarship is awarded to a student who is pursuing a career in gerontology who exhibits strong academics, service to older adults, community engagement, extracurricular activities and innovative career goals. Weber is a member of the Miami University Honors and Scholars Program and is an active volunteer in Opening Minds through Art, a form of art therapy for older adults living with dementia.

She was presented with the scholarship at the annual Association for Professionals in Aging holiday luncheon by board member, Timothy Vasconcellos, owner of Home Instead Senior Care and a 1996 Miami graduate.
