Robert Shetterly exhibition opening, lecture Feb. 23

Artist Robert Shetterly will speak about his work, "True or False? The Truth Will Set You Free: Truth Telling From Frederick Douglass to Sandra Steingraber" at 5 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 23, in 322 McGuffey Hall. A reception and gallery viewing of his work will be held 4-5 p.m. in the third floor hallway of McGuffey.

Shetterly is the creator of “Americans Who Tell the Truth,” a non-partisan series of portraits of past and current Americans. 
This collection of portraits and quotes is intended to remind people of the dignity, courage and importance of some of America's truth tellers, our own obligations as citizens, and that the struggle for equality and freedom is ongoing.

Shetterly’s talk and exhibition, on display through February 2013, are sponsored by the School of Education, Health and Society with support from the Center for American and World Cultures.
