Miami University's Institute for Entrepreneurship is partnering with the Kauffman Foundation to host Startup Weekend (Feb. 17-19), three days of intensive workshops for students with a great idea for starting a business.
Startup Weekends are held in cities across the country and are open to all ages; Miami’s weekend is unique because it’s the first one just for students. Over the course of three days, students will refine their “60-second pitch,” learn how to develop a business plan and will brand their idea.
Several Miami alums with ties to business development and entrepreneurship will work 1-on-1 with students, including Nick Seguin from the Kauffman Foundation and Dave Knox from Rockfish Interactive. Knox, a 2003 graduate of the Farmer School of Business, has been a driving force behind The Brandery, a small business incubator in Cincinnati.
If Miami’s Startup Weekend is successful, it could spread to other campuses nationwide.
