The first lecture of the Idea of Europe Lecture Series will be held at 5 p.m. Monday, Feb. 20, in 40 Irvin Hall and features Larry Wolf, professor of history and director of the Center for European and Mediterranean Studies at New York University.
Wolf will present, "The Image of Eastern Europe: Mental Re-mapping After the Cold War." The event is free and open to the public.
The lecture is the first in a series of four addressing issues of European unity, identity and image from a variety of perspectives (history, political science, literature, religion). The second lecture in the series will be presented by James McAdams, the William M. Scholl Professor of International Relations and director of the Nanovic Institute of European Studies at the University of Notre Dame, Monday, April 16.
