Anthropology teaching laboratories host open house

Miami University's department of anthropology will host an open house 2:30-4 p.m. today (Friday, Feb. 3) to officially open three new laboratory classrooms in a suite of rooms in 180 Upham Hall.

Two of the labs are focused on archaeology and biological anthropology. Here students have the opportunity to work hands-on with archaeological and museum artifacts, human and non-human primate skeletal collections, and replicas of hominid fossils.

The third laboratory classroom is devoted to cultural and linguistic anthropology. This space is flexibly structured and has significant media resources, said Linda Marchant, chair and professor of anthropology.
