| Ann Bainbridge Frymier |
Ann Bainbridge Frymier, Miami University professor of communication and associate dean of the graduate school, is the recipient of the 2012 Elizabeth G. Andersch Award from Ohio University's School of Communication Studies. The award is presented to distinguished members of the communication discipline to acknowledge excellence in scholarship, teaching, leadership and mentorship.
Frymier has been actively involved in the National Communication Association and the Eastern Communication Association (ECA), having served as president of ECA in 2002. She has extensive research background in the area of instructional communication, focusing specifically on teacher communication behaviors and students' motivation and learning. Frymier has published over 25 articles, several book chapters, and the text, Persuasion: Integrating Theory, Research and Practice. She joined Miami in 1992.
A committee of faculty members in Ohio University’s School of Communication Studies selects the recipient for the award in memory of Elizabeth Andersch, a former faculty member at Ohio University.
Frymier will receive an honorarium and a certificate recognizing her achievements. She will also give a seminar at Ohio University this spring about her work in instructional communication.
