The eighth annual human rights and social justice program at Miami University, "A Call to Action: Bridging and Bonding Across Borders," features a series of events Nov. 8 - Nov. 17 highlighted by the Human Rights and Social Justice Information Fair Wednesday, Nov. 16. A presentation and panel on human trafficking in Ohio and the world will be held Thursday, Nov. 17.
A presentation and panel, “Mapping Human Trafficking: In Ohio and the World” will be held at 5 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 17, in the Shriver Center multipurpose rooms. Human trafficking hits close to home, as Toledo is ranked as one of the country’s top human trafficking markets. Presenters are Lilleana Cavanaugh, executive director, Office of Ohio Hispanic and Latino Affairs, and Lair Marin, manager and constituent coordinator for the Ohio Commission on Hispanic/Latino Affairs. Other program events include an anti-bullying campaign, film series, read-in, exhibition, and human trafficking activist training. The program is sponsored and organized by the Center for American and World Cultures, in collaboration with Miami’s Middletown and Hamilton campuses, and supported by many campus organizations. A schedule of events is available as a downloadable file. |
