Miami's Steel Band performs Oct. 28

The Miami University Steel Band, directed by Chris Tanner, will perform at 8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 28, in Hall Auditorium. Guest artists Randy Villars, tenor saxophone, and Chris Hanning, drum set, will perform with the group.

Villars has worked as a professional pianist, synth player, saxophonist, composer/arranger and commercial music producer; he is currently touring the United States, Europe and Japan with Bootsy Collins.

Hanning is professor of percussion at West Chester University, a recording artist for NFL Films, and performs with the Peter Paulsen Quintet, the Bach Festival Orchestra of Bethlehem, and with Philadelphia's premier contemporary music ensemble Relâche.

The Steel Band will perform a mixed repertoire including an arrangement by Chris Tanner of “Over the Rainbow.”
