Dance Theatre winter concerts Dec. 4 and 511/24/2010 |

The winter concert features dances choreographed by Rosenberg, Dance Theatre alumni and students, with music ranging from the Brazilian percussion group Uakti to Shostakovich to Etta James to contemporary. Rosenberg choreographed “Entrapped” using the last sections of Shostakovich’s Seventh String Quartet, and “2 X 5 = 10” with music by Uakti. Dance theatre alumni choreographed several works: Dan Weltner (Miami ’85) choreographed “Vinyl Throwback” with classic rock and roll music; Laura Dattilo (Miami ’08) choreographed “We’ll Make It Somehow” with music from Ane Brun and Eef Barzelay; and Margaret Donohue (Miami ’06), research associate in advancement services at Miami, choreographed “Seesaw Cycle” using classical and hip hop sounds from Nuttin’ but Stringz. Sammi Bowyer, a junior speech pathology and audiology major from Middletown, and Cassie Wilson, coordinator of Miami’s Employee Health & Well-being program and Dance Theatre member, choreographed “Factor of Me” using music by Regina Spektor and Fiona Apple; and Caroline Farris, junior art history major from Knoxville, Tenn., choreographed “Interaction.” Tickets are free for Miami students with ID; $6 in advance and $8 at the door for students/seniors; and $10 in advance and $12 at the door for general admission, available at the box office in Shriver Center or 529-3200. |
