Response to stadium incident

Recent news reported that a Miami University student said he was asked to leave a football game because he continued to wear an Indian headdress after an usher repeatedly asked him to remove it.

In this incident the student should not have been removed from the game. Athletic event staff have been advised of this and the intercollegiate athletics staff have apologized to the student.

While the university promotes and encourages freedom of expression, we also encourage such expression to be done respectfully and responsibly.
