Adam Richman on "Why We Eat, What We Eat"10/22/2010 |
|||
|
Richman grew up in the food mecca of New York City and began his love affair with food by sampling all of the diverse culinary specialties the city had to offer. Later, as an undergraduate at Emory University, he began a food journal to document the standout food establishments he discovered throughout the Southeastern United States. After earning a master's degree from the Yale University School of Drama, Richman traveled the United States acting in many regional theaters. The nature of his work allowed him to feed his appetite for tasting the best local dishes across the country - all of which found their way into his food journal. Besides having worked in nearly every echelon of the restaurant world, from coast to coast and from the counter to the kitchen, Richman has performed on stage, most recently in “Walls" at the Cherry Lane Theatre in New York City, and has appeared in episodes of "Guiding Light," "Law and Order," "All My Children" and "Joan of Arcadia." The lecture is free, but tickets are required due to limited seating. Tickets will be available to the Miami community starting Wednesday, Oct. 27, at the box office in Shriver Center. Any remaining tickets will be available to the general public starting Friday, Oct. 29. Other speakers in the 2010-2011 series include Bill Nye, “Consider the Following: Let’s Get Cool with Science!” on Jan. 31 and Soledad O’Brien, “Diversity: On TV, Behind the Scenes and in Our Lives,” April 4.
