Symphony Orchestra features concerto competition winners

The Miami University Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Ricardo Averbach, will perform at 8 p.m. Tuesday, April 20, in Hall Auditorium. The concert will feature solo performances by student winners of the music department's annual concerto competition.

The three student concerto competition winners, all graduate students in music performance, are: Thomas McDonald, viola soloist, performing the first movement of Hindemith’s Der Schwanendreher; Cody Grabbe, clarinet soloist, performing Premiere Rhapsodie by Debussy; and Carolyn Lo May Yeeng, pianist, performing the first movement of Piano Concerto No. 2 in G minor by Saint-Saens.

The orchestra will also perform “The Pines of Rome” by Ottorino Respghi.

The concert is free and open to the public. For more information, call 529-3014.
