Tao Jiang has been promoted to professor of mathematics. He earned a bachelor’s degree from Zhejiang University in China in 1994 and a Ph.D. from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 2000. Prior to joining Miami in 2001 he was an assistant professor at Michigan Technological University. Jiang’s research lies in graph theory and combinatorics, a branch of mathematics that is closely related to theoretical computer science. He has published regularly in international journals and his work has been cited more than 130 times by peers. His research has been supported by the National Security Agency. In 2007, he received Miami University’s Distinguished Scholar Award for a junior faculty member. He is a frequent speaker at professional meetings and has organized several professional meetings and special sessions. At Miami, Jiang has served on several university and college committees. He is a faculty advisor of the Pi Mu Epsilon Miami University chapter.
