Pirates and pianos are coming to the Miami University Voice of America Learning Center on Feb. 20 and 21 as the center joins in on the annual Sampler Weekend of the Cincinnati Fine Arts Fund.
Island fun is the centerpiece of Pirate Island Madness presented by Time Machine Productions. The performance will take place from 1-3 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 20, and features two zaney pirates, and plenty of island music from the likes of Harry Belafonte, Bob Marley, Jimmy Buffett, and more.
Pianists Jeff Smith and Rod Nimtz will be at the keyboards for a two-piano concert 2-4 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 21. Smith and Nimtz have performed together with other Miami alumni in two- and four-piano concerts in Middletown in the past, and the performance will combine old standards, popular music, Broadway, and gospel.
These special events are being hosted by the Learning Center’s Community and Alumni Network.
The Fine Arts Fund Sampler Weekend is sponsored by Macy’s, and creative things will be happening all over the greater Cincinnati area, including music, dance, storytelling, theatre, painting, and more.
Everyone is invited to experience the performances, exhibits, and vibrant activities with family, friends and neighbors. A full schedule is available on line by visiting www.fineartsfund.org.
