Wanted: Students who have exciting ideas that will make Miami's campus more sustainable.
The Miami University Revolving Green Fund (MURGF), currently with $50,000 from the university administration, was set up last November to support student-sponsored projects related to sustainability, encouraging collaboration among students, faculty and staff.
“The goal is to fund projects that save the university money, and use future savings to continuously replenish the Fund and support future sustainability projects,” said David Prytherch, Miami sustainability coordinator.
The first application received by the Green Fund is a proposal for a wind turbine located near the Ecology Research Center behind Yager Stadium. The proposal was approved by the Green Fund committee and is now being reviewed by the university administration.
