The Miami University and Oxford communities will observe Martin Luther King Jr. Day with a commemorative march and a program of music and reflections.
Events begin at 10 a.m., Monday, Jan. 18, at the Uptown Park with brief opening remarks followed by a march around campus. A program, honoring the life of King, will follow at 11:15 a.m. at Hall Auditorium. Speakers include leaders from the Miami student body and administration, the city of Oxford and community religious groups.
The event is sponsored by the city of Oxford and various Miami organizations including the Black History Celebration committee; the office of diversity affairs; Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc.; the Center for American and World Cultures; Lights on Campus; and the office of community engagement and service.
