Miami University will present 791 diplomas during its fall commencement at 3 p.m. Friday, Dec. 18, in Millett Hall. President David Hodge will preside over the ceremony.
Jon Yamashiro, associate professor of art, will give the commencement address. Yamashiro was named the 2009-2010 Effective Educator.
Sharon Mitchell (Miami ’73), a member of the Miami University board of trustees, and Doug Banks (Miami ’81), president of the Miami University Alumni Association, will present brief remarks.
The winner of the E. Phillips Knox Teaching Award, given annually to a faculty member who has demonstrated excellence and innovation in teaching at the undergraduate level, will be announced.
Music will be provided by Rod Nimtz, director, Voice of America Learning Center.
Conferral of diplomas will include 86 associate’s, 586 bachelor’s, 101 master’s, 16 doctorates and two certificates.
