Communication department hosts speech showcase

Top speakers from Miami University's Public Expression and Critical Inquiry (COM 135) classes will compete in an end-of-semester speech showcase beginning at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 9, 322 McGuffey Hall.

The top two speeches from each COM 135 section have been submitted for preliminary judging. Once preliminary judging is complete, the top eight speakers will go on to compete in the speech showcase. All showcase participants will be awarded certificates as well as prizes. The showcase winner will receive a prize valued at $500. Showcase sponsor Pearson, the publisher of the COM 135 textbook Public Speaking: An Audience Centered Approach, by Steven A. and Susan J. Beebe, donated the cash prizes.

Students and faculty members are encouraged to attend the showcase.
