"State of Transition": Student-produced documentary

Miami University students in Joe Sampson's communications/ journalism class (COM/JRN 314) have produced a documentary, "A State of Transition: Why Ohio and its Grads Need Each Other." A free, public screening of the film is at 7 p.m., Tuesday, Dec. 8, in 107 Williams Hall (a TV studio), followed by a discussion led by the students.

The documentary focuses on the economic challenges Ohio faces, as well as the solutions young college graduates can provide.

Throughout the semester, students in the class have traveled across the state obtaining different opinions and perspectives from educators, administrators, employers, historians and students to examine the role educated young adults play in transforming Ohio's future.

Chancellor for Higher Education Eric Fingerhut and State Tourism Director Amir Eylon are among officials interviewed for this project.
