The office of residence life invites students, faculty, staff and members of the Oxford community to experience "Tunnel of Oppression: Miami Under the Microscope" from 3-9 p.m. Nov. 9-10 at Williams Hall.
"Tunnel of Oppression" is an interactive activity that highlights contemporary issues of oppression. It is a grassroots diversity program that started in 1993 at Western Illinois University.
The tunnel is designed so that those going through it get a sense of what it feels like to be oppressed or discriminated against. After the experience, "travelers" attend a call-to-action fair with more information on the issues raised.
This is the fifth year for the tunnel at Miami. The event is free and open to the public.
Groups are asked to pre-schedule a time by emailing first-year adviser Carrie Bierck, email@example.com. Tours last 50 minutes. For other questions, please email Ed Butch, Tunnel Committee chair and apartment director, at firstname.lastname@example.org.
