The Miami University Performing Arts Series presents the internationally acclaimed Cashore Marionettes in "Simple Gifts" at 3 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 1, at Hall Auditorium.
“Simple Gifts” is a series of portrayals and scenes from everyday life, set to classical music and brought to life by award-winning visual artist and master puppeteer Joseph Cashore.
Cashore has received numerous awards for his artistry, including a 1995 Citation of Excellence from Union Internationale de la Marionette USA (UNIMA), the highest honor an American puppeteer can receive.
“This collection of puppet vignettes, set to well-chosen music, is a simple but brilliant production that carries the audience through a range of feelings...this show is highly recommended even for adults who don’t happen to have kids,” the Calgary Herald reviewed.
The 90-minute “series of virtuosic puppetry” is perfect for adults and school-aged children.
Tickets are $6 for adults, $5 for senior citizens, and $3 for students and youth. For tickets or more information, go to www.muohio.edu/PerformingArtsSeries.
Tickets are also available at the box office in Shriver Center, at 529-3200 or www.tickets.muohio.edu.
“Simple Gifts” is presented by the Miami University Performing Arts Series. The Ohio Arts Council helped fund this program, and it is partially supported by a grant from Pennsylvania Performing Arts on Tour; the William Penn Foundation; the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts; and The Pew Charitable Trusts.
