Miami sports fans are encouraged to bring food, clothing, or hygiene products to the Homecoming Game on Saturday, October 24 as part of Miami University’s Hunger and Homelessness Awareness Week.
Items will be collected before the game, during Tailgate Town, and also in bins outside the stadium.
The items will go directly to several of Miami’s community partners who serve people experiencing hunger or homelessness, including the Oxford Community Choice Pantry, Serve City in Hamilton, and the Freestore Foodbank in Cincinnati.
Hunger and Homelessness Awareness Week is Oct. 19 - Saturday, Oct. 24. The goal of the week is to raise awareness about hunger and homelessness in our local community and also work to alleviate these important social issues through service and philanthropy. To view the planned events, go to www.muohio.edu/servicelearning and click “Hunger and Homelessness Awareness Week Calendar.”
Hunger and Homelessness Awareness Week is the result of collaboration between the office of community engagement and service, housing, dining, and guest services, athletics, the English department, and several student organizations, including AIESEC, Nourish International, Lambda Chi, Hillel, Drinks Around the World, and the Muslim Student Organization.
