Thomas Trezise, associate professor of French at Princeton University, will present “Trauma, Theory, Testimony” at 5 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 7, in 1 Alumni Hall.
His talk, sponsored by the L.P. Irvin Fund of the department of French and Italian, will address critical reflections on the theory of trauma and its implications for the acceptance of Holocaust survivor testimony.
Trezise specializes in modern French literature, literary theory, continental philosophy and Holocaust studies. His publications include Into the Breach: Samuel Beckett and the Ends of Literature and the French translation of Paul de Man’s Allegories of Reading. He is currently working on a book about the acceptance of Holocaust survivor testimony, Witnessing Witnessing.
