Community auditions for the staged reading of “The Laramie Project: 10 Years Later” will be 5-10 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 3, in Studio 88 of the Center for Performing Arts.
Those interested may bring a monologue, but it is not necessary. Members of the Oxford and Miami communities are invited to audition.
The staged reading held will be in collaboration with the Tectonic Theatre Project at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 12, in Hall Auditorium, part of the Miami University Performing Arts Series. Paul K. Bryant-Jackson, professor of theatre, will direct the reading.
Written by Moisés Kaufman and members of the Tectonic Theater Project, the highly acclaimed play “The Laramie Project,” about Matthew Shepard, a gay college student who was murdered, has been one of the most performed plays in America.
The epilogue, “The Laramie Project: 10 Years Later,” will be performed in New York at Lincoln Center’s Alice Tully Hall and at more than 100 other theaters in all 50 states, Canada, Great Britain, Spain, Hong Kong and Australia — and at Miami University — on Oct. 12.
