Jewish National Fund’s (JNF) Carl B. Rubin Legal Society will honor Todd Bailey as Attorney of the Year at its third annual Attorney of the Year Gala Nov. 15.
Bailey, a Miami University alumnus (’73), teaches in the finance department of the Farmer School of Business and is an attorney with the regional firm of Frost Brown Todd LLC. Bailey is a veteran litigator in the area of intellectual property (IP), trade secret misappropriation, unfair competition and products liability.
Though Bailey focused on litigation for much of his career, he felt a strong urge to teach such subjects as IP and ethics. A big believer in making sure to expand his students’ awareness beyond the classroom, he tackles larger concepts through class work.
“A good lawyer is a good teacher,” said Bailey. “And to me, teaching is the most important mission I can undertake.”
Bailey also is involved with Volunteer Lawyers for the Poor, Ohio Children’s Trust Fund, and is on the advisory council to the dean of Arts and Sciences at Miami.
The Carl B. Rubin Legal Society is named in honor of the late Cincinnati Federal district judge. Rubin, who presided over such litigation as accusations that the drug Bendectin caused birth defects in the fetuses of pregnant women who took it, died in 1995.
