Organizers of Alumni Weekend are looking to break a Guinness World Record — the number of wedding vows renewed at the same time. It promises to be a Miami Bicentennial Moment.
Are you a Miami Merger? Come together and celebrate the Bicentennial year with other Miami couples for a Miami Merger Moment at Alumni Weekend 2009. Join hundreds of other Mergers at 4:15 p.m. Saturday, June 20, at the Upham Arch.
Not a Merger? “Acquisitions” (a Miamian married to a non- Miamian) are welcome to join the effort to break this world record. Non-Miami couples are equally welcome to participate.
All will gather for a group photo, a Countdown to a Kiss and a fun chance to renew their marriage vows as the Alumni Organization seeks to break the current Guinness World Record for the most couples simultaneously renewing their wedding vows (current record is 624 couples, set in Pittsburgh, PA in 2008).
It will be fun and casual and the only thing you’ll need to do is bring a copy of your marriage certificate, so it can be presented to the Guinness World Records representative on hand who will make Miami's record official.
