Yu Tong (Jade) Morton

Jade Morton has been promoted to professor of electrical and computer engineering. She received her bachelor’s degree from Nanjing University in China, master’s in electrical engineering from Case Western Reserve University, master’s in systems analysis from Miami and doctorate from Pennsylvania State University. Morton was a post-doctoral research fellow at the University of Michigan prior to moving to Oxford in 1993.

Morton joined the Miami faculty in 2000 and played a critical role in developing the new electrical and computer engineering curricula. She has mentored more than 40 undergraduate student research projects and established research and educational collaborations with government research laboratories and leading domestic and international institutions.

Morton’s current research focuses on advanced Global Positioning Systems receivers, navigation signal processing and sensor fusion and space physics. Since 2002, she has been the principal investigator or co-investigator for approximately $2.3 million of external funding from federal and state funding agencies and private industries. Morton is the author or co-author of more than 70 technical publications and has made more than 150 technical presentations for conferences and workshops.
