Qihou Zhou

Qihou Zhou has been promoted to professor of electrical and computer engineering. He joined the Miami faculty in August 2002 as an assistant professor and was promoted to associate professor in 2006. He previously worked at the National Astronomy and Ionosphere Center, Cornell University, first as a research associate and then as a senior research associate. He graduated from the Harbin Institute of Technology with a bachelor’s degree in applied optics and from Pennsylvania State University with a doctorate in electrical engineering in 1991.

Zhou teaches circuits, computer-aided experimentations, electronics and signals and systems. He is actively involved with student design and one-on-one research projects. His main research interests include radar remote sensing, digital signal processing, space physics and public finance.

Zhou has published more than 70 referred papers in highly ranked journals and about 20 referred papers in conference proceedings. He received the 2007 SEAS Orwig Family Outstanding Research Award. His research activities at Miami have been generously supported by grants from the National Science Foundation, the Air Force Office of Scientific Research and other local and federal agencies.
