Larry Winston Collins has been granted tenure and promoted to associate professor of art. Before pursuing a career as a fine artist/art professor, Collins worked as a graphics designer for Merrill Publishing Company in Columbus.
He received his bachelor’s degree from the Columbus College of Art and Design and master’s degree from the Maryland Institute, College of Art. Collins also received a fellowship to attend the Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture in Maine. An “Artist to Africa Fellowship” presented by Arts for Community Expression (ACE) facilitated his travels to Dakar, Senegal, in West Africa. Collins has received other awards including grants from the Ohio and Greater Columbus Arts Councils, most recently to fund a residency at the Dresden Graphic Workshop in Germany.
Collins exhibits nationally and internationally. His works range from pencil drawings to collage, printmaking and mixed media paintings. Prior to coming to Miami University, he taught at the Columbus College of Art and Design for several years. Collins also is a percussionist who plays with the local musical group Anachrorhythms.
