Kurt Hugenberg has been granted tenure and promoted to associate professor of psychology. He earned his doctorate in social psychology from Northwestern University in 2003. He came to Miami as a visiting assistant professor, 2003-05 and has been an assistant professor since then.
Hugenberg’s research on stereotyping, prejudice, and cross-race face identification has been published in numerous scientific journals and his work is funded by a grant from the National Science Foundation. Hugenberg has won multiple awards for his research including the 2009 SAGE Young Scholar Award and the 2006 SPSP Theoretical Innovation Prize. His teaching awards include the 2006 Psy Chi Professor of the Year award and the 2005 Distinguished Faculty Member, Greek Award.
