Ortiz received her bachelor’s degree in mathematics at the Antioquia University in Medellín, Colombia. She went on to the State University of New York at Binghamton where she received a doctorate in May 2003. She joined the department of mathematics and statistics at Miami University in the fall of 2003. Ortiz’s research focuses on the interplay among geometry, topology and algebraic K-theory. She has received a National Science Foundation grant, which partially supports her research. |
