New wellness program encourages balanced lifestyle

02/02/2009

“Infinite Ways to Wellness” is a new program designed to encourage Miami employees to link six areas of wellness, their personal lives and Miami history to develop a balanced lifestyle. The free, 12-week program runs through April 26 and is sponsored by Employee Health and Well-Being (EHWB).

The program challenges people to do activities to increase their personal wellness. In honor of Miami’s bicentennial, participants are asked to reach a goal of 200 minutes a week by April 26. To achieve wellness, a person must create a balance in six areas: emotional, intellectual, occupational, physical, social and spiritual.

Every three weeks participants receive facts about Miami’s history and are reminded to increase the time they spend doing wellness activities.
Employees record their actions and submit their logs to EHWB every Monday. Participants will receive a raffle ticket every time they accomplish the required minutes for that week. Prizes include an iPod Shuffle, Miami memorabilia, parking passes, recreation center group fitness passes and much more. All employees will receive a wellness star stress ball for completing the program.

Employees can register anytime during the 12 weeks but are encouraged to start soon to increase their chances to win prizes. Register for the program at www.muohio.edu/ehwb.
