Young Painters Competition winners to be named Jan. 23

Winners of the 10th annual Young Painters Competition for the $10,000 William (Miami '36) and Dorothy Yeck Award will be announced at a reception and ceremony, 5:15 p.m. Friday, Jan.23, in Hiestand Galleries, School of Fine Arts.

Competition juror Bob Nugent, professor emeritus at Sonoma State University, will speak at 4 p.m. Jan. 23 in room 100 art building.

First place winner receives the $10,000 Yeck purchase award; second prize is $1,500 and third prize is $1,000. Works by the ten finalists will be exhibited at Hiestand through Feb. 11. Also exhibited through Feb. 11 are works by the 2008 winner, Jessie Fisher.
