Miami ensemble to perform world premiere of newly discovered Tchaikovsky flute concerto

(Updated Jan. 30) The Oxford Chamber Orchestra with guest flutist James Strauss will perform at 8 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 31, in Hall Auditorium. Ricardo Averbach will conduct.

The concert features the world premiere of Concertstück for Flute and Strings, a newly discovered flute concerto by Pyotr Ill'yich Tchaikovsky.

As part of the premiere, Miami will host a forum on the concerto and its discovery by Strauss, 2-4 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 30, and 10 a.m.-noon Wednesday, Jan. 31.
