  Today (Nov. 2) 171 multicultural high school seniors from Chillicothe, Cincinnati, Columbus, Dayton, Hamilton and Middletown are completing a two-day stay on campus for the Bridges Program. This is the second session of Bridges this fall, hosting high-achieving underrepresented students from across Ohio.

01/03/2008  19th annual African American Read-in to be Feb. 4  
  Miami's 19th annual African American Read-In, part of a worldwide initiative to raise awareness of the contributions by black writers, will be 1-4 p.m. Monday, Feb. 4, in 320 King Library. Miami faculty, staff and students will participate in the Read-In, which is held in conjunction with Oxford's Lane Public Library and the Talawanda School District. It is sponsored by the university's libraries diversity committee.

  "From Romanticism to Modernism: Nineteenth Century Visual Culture," a symposium in honor of Clive Getty, professor of art at Miami University, will be held 8 a.m.-4 p.m. Friday, Feb. 25, at the Miami University Art Museum.   
08/21/2007  1 megawatt electricity saved during heat wave  
  Staff, faculty and students at Miami University's Oxford campus reduced campus electric use by 500 kilowatts (kW) in early August during record heat in response to a request by energy management engineer Anthony Ferraro of the physical facilities department.

  The Miami University chapter of Acacia Fraternity has been found responsible for violating the Code of Student Conduct, Section 105B (prohibited use of alcohol).

  A new academic calendar policy begins with spring semester 2009. Classes are now held on President's Day and the Monday/Tuesday exchange day has been eliminated.

  Divisional recognition ceremonies, undergraduate events designed by each division to complement the university ceremony, will be held throughout commencement weekend.

  The interactive academic integrity tutorial Miami eScholar has been renamed mIntegrity to better situate its role as a university learning tool.

  Dave Eggers, author of What is the What, will speak with Alex Pial, a survivor of the atrocities in Sudan, for Miami University's convocation at 9 a.m. Friday, Aug. 17, in Millett Hall.    
01/24/2011  Accenture Project begins this week  
  One of the Strategic Priorities Taskforce recommendations is that Miami University hire a consultant to look at how the university is currently administered and delivers services that support the instructional and research mission of the university. The firm would be asked to suggest options for how services can be maintained or improved while being delivered more cost-effectively. Miami has hired Accenture to lead this work that begins this week.

  Miami's employee services now offers full benefit information seven days a week from any computer with Internet access. Employees can securely access personal benefit information such as health, dental, voluntary group accident insurance, flexible spending and tax-deferred annuities.   
09/26/2008  Access cards offer convenience and discounted parking  
  Faculty, staff, and graduate assistants may purchase an access card for each of the parking garages (Campus Avenue garage and north campus garage) at parking services (128 CAB) or online for $25 per month. Purchase of a full year access card ($300) will include a red (faculty/staff) or green (graduate assistant) permit at no additional charge.
