Ohio makes progress in delivering long-term services; challenges remain

Despite a large increase in the older population, Ohio's Medicaid expenditures and utilization rates have remained relatively constant for long-term care services for people over the age of 60, says a new study by Miami University's Scripps Gerontology Center.

Cracks reveal earthquake history in northern Chile - Miami geologist part of study

Earth's crust is generally considered to rebound following an earthquake so that deformation away from the fault is not permanent. However, a team of researchers, including Miami geologist Jason Rech, has identified numerous large cracks in northern Chile's Atacama Desert that widen during successive earthquakes. These results indicate that the crust has been permanently deformed by thousands of earthquakes.

Miami University and the Northeast Ohio Medical University (NEOMED) have established the Miami-NEOMED Baccalaureate to MD Pathway Program to identify and support future medical school students starting in their middle and high school years.
