The Miami Experience

DAVID C. HODGE, PRESIDENT: Since my very first contact with Miami, I've been impressed by the power of the total Miami Experience. I have spoken to alum after alum after alum, and the message is the same—that this was the best four years of their lives and that the Miami Experience set them up for their success. They are deeply grateful to Miami and all that it's meant to them.

But most importantly, I've come to understand just how this experience happens to be. It is part about academics. Alums love the fact that our faculty are so committed to our students—that they spend time both inside the classroom and outside the classroom, making sure that they have the opportunities to grow—to grow intellectually, to grow socially, to grow in every way possible to provide them with the capacities for success.

At the same time, all alums talk about what an extraordinary experience it was outside of the classroom on the campus—meeting friends, being a part of organizations, clubs of one kind or another, even intramural sports. Participating in all kinds of activities across the campus have helped to develop who they are, helped them to develop the skills that they needed to be successful in the rest of their lives. This is a powerful image of what the Miami Experience is all about at its very best.
